The public scandals are nonstop for Uber these days!
On Tuesday, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick issued a lengthy apology after footage leaked of him bickering with one of the drivers for his ride sharing app. We doubt Mr. Kalanick got four stars. LOLz!
In the video (below), the businessman is seen having a heated back and forth with an employee, named Fawzi Kamal, after he was called out for lowering the rates for drivers. Fawzi is heard saying:
"I am bankrupt because of you."
Clearly, this comment didn’t sit well with Travis as he clapped back:
"Some people don’t like to take responsibility for their own shit. They blame everything in their life on somebody else."
Be sure to watch the awkward exchange for yourself (below).
Eek. The 40-year-old has since apologized for his unacceptable behavior, as he wrote in an email to his staff:
"To say that I am ashamed is an extreme understatement. My job as your leader is to lead…and that starts with behaving in a way that makes us all proud. That is not what I did, and it cannot be explained away. It’s clear this video is a reflection of me—and the criticism we’ve received is a stark reminder that I must fundamentally change as a leader and grow up. This is the first time I’ve been willing to admit that I need leadership help and I intend to get it."
At least Travis realizes he needs to grow the fuck up! Still, this is just the latest blunder the popular app has faced in recent months.
We mean, just last week, a former engineer made headlines when she accused Uber of ignoring her sexual harassment and sexism complaints. Oh, and there was that pesky #DeleteUber campaign after the company undermined the NYC taxi drivers’ protest against Donald Trump‘s immigration ban.
It’s safe to say that Uber is on some seriously thin ice right now. We wonder if they’ll ever be able to fully bounce back after these scandals. Merp!
